I feel we’ve got to know each other quite well, so now is probably a good point to confess my secret love of all things royal. I’m not joking, I have a minor obsession.
The royal wedding was like a dream for me. Three of my favourite things: Kate Middleton, Alexander McQueen and weddings (Well, back when they were a mythical thing and not something I actually had to plan myself) combined … I shed a tear. If I could, I swear I would be one of those old people camping out for days outside the hospital with the little British flags when the Prince and Princesses are born. Despite living just over the bridge and having been to London countless times over the course of my life for work and fun, last year I dragged A to London to do the whole tourist thing and we went to see the crown jewels and palace. I’ve since developed a strong desire to carry a scepter and get a pet raven, but I digress.
Imagine my excitement when I receive these gorgeous boxes in the post from Truebrit London *, a quintessentially British brand who are striving to set new standards of luxury for your claws.
Now I’ve got some new bling on my finger -which I can’t stop staring at, like a happily married little magpie- I’ve been making more of an effort to keep my nails in better shape. Summer is approaching and my wardrobe has moved from 100% black to almost all black with some white, grey or even khaki if I’m feeling adventurous, allowing me to bring out the Summery make up and nail colours.
I have a bit of an affinity for obnoxiously bright pink, so when invited to try these products out, that’s exactly what I asked for and wow, did Truebrit deliver.
‘Brighton Rock‘ -can we address how cute these names are?- is like my favourite hexcode (#ff0084 forever), in nail varnish form. Unlike a lot of polishes, it keeps that vivid pink colour when applied, which I love. It’s a matte colour but on the nail has a nice shiny finish. The only nail varnish I’ve tried which has come close to this level of hot pink was one from the MAC Loves Barbie collection in 2007.
Nudes are applicable for all seasons so naturally I wanted to try their nude offering, which came in the form of this lovely shade ‘The Summer House‘. This has a subtle warm pearlescent shimmer to it, which makes it feel perfect for Summer.
I applied two layers with a base and top coat, which wore really well. From a slightly obsessive perspective, I love how the square bottles sit neatly together.
Overall I’m very impressed with these and will be ordering a few more of their shades (hello Full Monty, Duchess and Victoria) to add to my collection.
What colours are you wearing on your nails this Summer?
