Last week I attended the Spectrum Collections #eyesonspectrum event here in Cardiff. They gave us an amazing gift bag -containing a rose!- which included a set of their gorgeous brushes. The set they gifted us was the Must Have Minis, set of four face brushes. The set came in a -pleather- pastel purple makeup bag.
The heads of these vegan synthetic brushes are full sized, but the handles are travel friendly. I love this concept as I’m forever attempting to jam my brushes into makeup bags for trips. No one does aesthetic like Spectrum and I have to admit it was love at first sight. The pink and purple combo is so pretty.
Whilst I don’t think anyone could contest these brushes are beautiful, I couldn’t wait to see how they felt to use.

Must Have Minis Brush Set
These brushes are incredibly soft. I don’t think I’ve ever felt a synthetic brush which felt so nice on the skin. However I did wonder initially if they would be too soft to contour with or get a good eyeliner flick. As soon as I tried them with product on, I realised this wasn’t going to be an issue. The bristles are really firm.
As the brushes are made with synthetic fibres, they are great for powders or creams.
A03 | Foundation
This is a great alternative to the obviously not vegan MAC 190 foundation brush. I love this shape of brush for applying foundation. It’s easy to get a flawless base with the A03.
A01 | All over
The A01 is a powder brush ideal for setting or bronzing. I like the size of the head and find this is also great for blending cheeks.
A05 | Contour
This brush is perfect for contouring or highlighting with. It’s got an angled head but is still quite fluffy, giving a really nice natural look. The A05 is ideal for getting in under cheek bones with powder for a no faff contour.
A17 – Eyebrows
This brush has a sharp angled head, with firm bristles. Which makes it perfect for winged eyeliner or eyebrows. I’ve used it with my Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow for brows and Illamasqua precision gel liner for eyes, both of which worked really well. I find the shorter handle works really well, as it gives me more control and a steadier hand. I always try to hold brushes at the end so I’m as lightweight as possible, but the A17 is an exception and I love the results.
I’m loving the Must Have Minis set and the fact they’re entirely vegan. Whilst there’s no denying they are the prettiest brushes in my collection, they hold their own in terms of performance. It was clear from the live makeup demo we watched that they can achieve amazing results but having tried them, I can confirm they are truly fab. Hassle free and easy to use, so perfect for everyone from MUAs to those wanting to create a quick look in the morning.
I’m going to be adding to my Spectrum collection soon.
