I’ve always loved Scandinavian / Nordic interior design and the time I’ve spent in those parts of Europe has only cemented that. Our home is a complete mixture of different inspirations and eras, there’s no real connection to the house itself or from room to room, but I notice Scandinavian vibes have made their way into almost every room.
We’re currently renovating parts of the house and so I’ve been spending a lot of time looking online for inspiration and pieces. I thought it would be fun to share some of the things I’m coveting most at the moment for the house.
1. Copenhagen light
I love this. We stayed in a hotel in Iceland with amazing lighting just like this and I’m now searching for a wallet friendly version for our bedroom.
2. Resin Deer Head
Despite being a vegetarian and so naturally not being pro-hunting, there’s something fascinating about taxidermy and seeing big antlers everywhere in Norway. I’ve got several (resin) antlers and woodland animal related ornaments around the home and would love a pretend deer head mounted on the wall somewhere.
3. LED heart light
After coming back from Norway and Iceland during the polar night and seeing all the lights covering houses in lights, I wanted to add some to our windows. I recently spotted this light from Next which I plan to put in one of my outward facing windows so when Autumn comes and we’re getting home in the dark sometimes, the house will look cosy.
4. Ikea Lantern
Lanterns like this are placed outside shops in Norway during the polar night and it looked so sweet, I got some for our front door as soon as I got home. Unfortunately they can be quite pricy for the large ones, but I noticed Ikea have some now which I love so I’ll be dotting a few more around.
5. Hygge Candle.
Scented with strawberry cake, rose petals and wild mint, this candle sounds so lovely and I adore the cute names they picked for their candles.
6. Faux Fur Beanbag
I love faux fur and these beanbags look so cosy and comfortable.
7. Photo Wall
I take so many photos but rarely display them, because as weird as it sounds I don’t like the way they look on the wall if they’re colour. I find it looks unbalanced, so prefer black and white photos if I have them around the home. I love the look of this photo wall and want to recreate it to show off some of our wedding photos.
8. Exposed Filament Bulbs
I’m completely obsessed with filament bulbs and plan to have exposed lighting like this around the house.
9. Mirrored Star
I love stars and this mirrored star ornament would look perfect in my living room.
Do you like Scandinavian home decor? Could you imagine any of these pieces in your house?
