I love finding an affordable high street product which works as well as it’s more expensive peers. I picked up Rimmel Match Perfection concealer in Boots. It claims to blend with your skintone, cover and brighten.

Rimmel Match Perfection has a brush applicator, which the product is pushed through. I don’t love this kind of applicator, but it’s easy enough to transfer to a concealer brush. It has a thick consistency, not unlike -favourite of mine- Urban Decay Naked Skin concealer.
When swatched on the skin initially the colour is an ok match, but noticeably different. However when blended slightly it really does match perfectly. The colour match is so good, you can easily wear this on it’s own. If I’m having a no-makeup day where the only soul I’ll see is the postman, I still apply this to cover my under-eye bags.
The colour blending aspect means this isn’t a good choice for a highlighting concealer. The product dries nicely and doesn’t highlight texture or look caked. The coverage is great and I found this effortlessly covered any blemishes and imperfections.
The main area where I rely on concealer is my under eye. I get red / purple bags under my eyes which never shift no matter how rested I am! This concealer has good coverage so with just a small amount of product covered those problem areas. Whilst it’s possible to use more concealer and bake to remove any creases and completely cover all discolouration, I reserve that for when it’s needed. Some days it’s nice to have a more comfortable application and not feel like you’re wearing a death mask.
Rimmel Match Perfection Swatches
As you can see above, my problem areas are covered and eyes look instantly more awake. I wear this under my foundation so like a thin application to correct the bags and cover blemishes. It’s certainly illuminating and the fact it can be worn without any other makeup and not look crazy is a huge bonus.
As the meme goes, there’s no in-between with me. I’m either fully made-up with a cut crease or looking like I just rolled out of bed. I want to get better at the no-makeup makeup look (without using 2908309423 products) for traveling or busy days. Rimmel Match Perfection concealer is brilliant as whilst it can be worn in that way, it’s also got good enough coverage to be used to create a totally flawless base.
Costing £6.00, it’s affordable and good value. This is a product I’ll be keeping in my makeup bag for a long time.
