My MAC Lipstick Collection – My Most Worn Lipsticks

Makeup trends come and go, as do brands and products but one continuous staple in my makeup bag over the past decade has been the trusty MAC lipstick.

Have you ever heard the -probably false- fact about spiders, which states you’re never more than ten feet away from one? In this house that’s the case with MAC lipsticks. They’re stuffed in my handbags, pockets … Down the side of the sofa. I frequently panic when leaving the house that I’ve forgotten my keys or left my straighteners on but am never in any doubt as to wether I’ve got a lipstick in my bag, as it’s like a weird second nature.

I like nosing at people’s collections so thought I would pick out some of my most worn MAC lipsticks to share.

Nudes

My go-to lipstick is forever going to be a nude. I’ve tried almost all of the nudes in MAC’s permanent collection and have to remind myself I don’t need any more when a new collection features one.

nudes

1. Flesh Pot

2. Rare Breed *

3. Japanese Maple

4. Cherish

5. Fashion Pack *

6. Barking Gorgeous *

7. Velvet Teddy

Reds

I mostly wear reds and burgundy tones in Autumn and Winter, but love these shades so much they make regular appearances in all seasons.

8. Labradorable *

9. Party Line

10. Cockney

11. Viva Glam 4

12. Whirl

MAC lipstick

Whilst I wear all of these constantly, I find myself reaching for Velvet Teddy and Whirl a lot at the moment.

My recommendation for anyone wanting a really easy to wear nude lipstick would be Fresh Brew. It’s not included in my list as it’s quite sheer and subtle but I actually wore it on my wedding day.

Don’t forget you can recycle 6 MAC empties in-store and swap them for a MAC lipstick from the permanent range. Win. Who doesn’t love free stuff?

  1. This is a beautiful collection Amy! I don’t own that many MAC lipsticks but Mehr will always be my favourite shade! xx

  2. I love swapping my empties for a free mac lipstick, it’s seriously such a good feeling!

You have a really nice collection as well, Fresh Brew sounds perfect.

    1. I am! I’m hoping to be back to my usual posting now. Cockney is such a great red. I can imagine you get a lot of MAC empties so it’s well worth doing! X

  3. Do you think Rare Breed is more brown-toned than Velvet Teddy or more pink-toned? I’ve been looking for a new nude and I love Velvet Teddy! xx

    1. More pink toned although it looks darker on the swatch. It was a limited edition one though sadly. Velvet Teddy is one of my all time favs.

  4. I’ve just found out that I’m not allergic to MAC’s Matte formula (I’m allergic to ingredients in all the others), so I’m eagerly researching all the different shade options to choose my very first MAC lipstick! Velvet Teddy is currently top of my wish list, but I don’t want to rush into the decision too quickly. Xx

    1. Aw that’s great! Their matte formula is my favourite actually. Velvet Teddy is the one I’d recommend, looking forward to hearing which you pick! x

  5. Mac lipsticks are one of my favorites, my favorite definitely has to be Lady Danger, it may be my favorite lipstick of all time. I love your collection, the nude shades are stunning!

  6. I’ve never used a Mac lipstick before but I really want to try Velvet Teddy. Those nude shades are stunning.

  7. I’m currently going through my Mac lipstick collection as some are sooooo old it’s embarrassing and don’t even get worn anymore and it seems like the right time to back to Mac them – you’ve shared a couple that I’ll have to look in to.
