Lately I’ve seen post after post about Italian cosmetics brand Kiko, so began trawling through their site and planning an order. I also featured a few of their eyeshadows on my most recent blogger wishlist post.
In the end, I concluded I would be good and held off from ordering, but whilst wondering through town I came face to face with their new store. They’re offering 6 items for 3, which I couldn’t refuse so I went in to have a look at their range and see if it lived up to the hype.
What struck me first was how much choice there was, half the store was dedicated to eyeshadow alone. They have a variety of different product types which all shared two things in common: they’re highly pigmented and come in a massive choice of colour.
I was completely indecisive so spent a while sampling things and was impressed with the quality. I had wanted to try their mattes but something about the glittery and super colourful shadows was tempting me, I almost left with some ridiculously shimmery purples but had to remind myself that I likely wouldn’t wear them much.
In the end I compromised and went for a neutral colour -200 Champagne from the wet eyeshadows-, but a product which couldn’t be further from matte if it tried. From the tiny swatch I made I was covered in glitter!
For my second choice, I picked what could only be described as the essence of unicorn blood; This has to be the most glittery product I’ve ever bought, it’s described as Pearly Grey -229 also from the wet eyeshadows- but it’s pretty much like a pressed silver glitter pigment. I had a quick play yesterday and it goes over other shadows in the same way a loose pigment would.
I’ll be totally honest and admit I didn’t notice these were ‘wet’ eyeshadows when I got them. I fell in love with the texture and they have good colour payout when swatched dry, but I’m interested to see how they work when used wet.
Lastly I picked up a long lasting shadow stick in colour 25, light taupe. I got this with the intention of using under my eye and it’s a little bit too shimmery for that, but it blends really and does what it says on the tin, it holds really well! Yesterday for a quick eye makeup I just used this on the crease and blended up.
I’m really impressed with the products I got and am already thinking about my new purchases, I don’t know how long the 3 for 6 offer will last but it’s well worth making the most of.
Have you tried any Kiko products?
