Kat Von D ‘Lock-It’ Setting Powder

6th February 2018
'Lock-It' Setting Powder

Is coffee available in IV form yet? Asking for a friend. I’m always striving for the perfect makeup base and am currently experimenting with different foundations and concealers for Spring. One base product I have a love hate relationship is setting powder. When my skin is going through a dehydrated phase I need it’s help more than ever. But find the wrong one can make my skin look worse. I’ve always got on well with my Prep + Prime translucent powder from MAC Cosmetics, but had heard good things about the Kat Von D ‘Lock-It’ Setting Powder and decided to jump ship.

'Lock-It' Setting Powder

I love the Kat Von D products I’ve tried so far. Her packaging is always awesome and the ‘Lock-It’ Setting Powder is no exception. The console contains a small sponge that has her logo on. I like it when a sponge is included as whilst I use a brush to apply it, it’s easier to get out without spilling product everywhere. The powder comes out through star shaped holes in classic Kat Von D style.

'Lock-It' Setting Powder

I love how finely milled this powder is. It feels completely weightless on the skin and helps foundation and base products stay in place. ‘Lock-It’ has a velvet texture and whilst it’s completely matte, it doesn’t make skin look dry or dull at all.

The Kat Von D ‘Lock-It’ Setting Powder is available in the UK in Debenhams and is £22 for 19g. A smaller pot is available for £10 that I purchased as a trial, but I’ll definitely be going back for the 19g next time. For comparison, MAC Cosmetics Prep + Prime translucent powder is £21.50 for just 8g. Consider me converted.

Do you have any tips for creating a flawless base?

This looks nice! I love finely milled powders. I feel like they are the best for my skin and they make it look almost airbrushed. My go-to powder is Innisfree’s no sebum mineral powder. I actually need to blog about it, since I’m already going through my second jar..

Sounds amazing Amy, I don’t use a powder that often, even though I have 3 or 4 drugstore powders in my collection and maybe I should start wearing one every day to create that flawless effect.

I didn’t used to as it made me feel cakey but this powder is the total opposite. I’m converted! X

I’ve never really used a setting powder to be honest, I go for sprays rather than powder because I don’t really want my face to have the look of anything extra on it but I might have to give this a try!

I’m the same largely so would recommend this for a powder that looks like it’s not there! X
