Spectrum Brushes invited local bloggers, vloggers and Instagrammers to attend their Eyes On Spectrum event in Cardiff. An evening dedicated to their amazing success so far and aesthetically stunning brush collections. We got to watch a live makeup demo whilst gorging on delicious vegan treats (and it was every bit as photogenic as you would expect from the brand who bought us the World’s most Instagrammable brushes).
Rachel and I went together and as the night progressed, vowed to add every set to our collections!

Spectrum are a brand I can really get behind. For a start they’re entirely cruelty free and passionate about raising awareness for the subject. All their products are completely vegan.
Spectrum Brushes A Welsh Brand
I also love that they’re from Wales. Starting out in a garage they’ve risen to big heights but continue to operate from their hometown Barry and keep all their production -handmade- in the UK. Sophie and Hannah are a real success story. The journey their startup has been on is nothing short of inspirational. By their own admission the sisters are not makeup artists. They simply love makeup and wanted to bring their creative ideas to life.
Perhaps most well known for their Glam Clam brush set, Spectrum continue to create gorgeous new collections and have some exciting collaborations in the pipeline.
As we arrived we were greeted with drinks -rose gold glittering champagne no less- and left to explore and mingle. Candy Kittens were in attendance with their selection of sweets, including some suitable for vegans. Local florists the Urban Flower Studio had dressed the venue with amazing displays.
Live Makeup Demo
Spectrum makeup artist Sophie took us through a full face tutorial using the new Holy Grail 35 piece brush set. This was live streamed on Facebook and Instagram, giving us and the live audience a chance to ask questions. Using only cruelty free products, Sophie created a bold pink eye look on the model.
After the makeup tutorial and Q&A had finished, we were treated to a vegan buffet from local restaurant Milgi (the cashew pesto was amazing). Dirty Martini, a local cocktail bar served up unicorn cocktails. Naturally being pregnant I didn’t drink any but I appreciated the aesthetic!
Spectrum kindly gifted us a goody bag filled with treats. Including a gorgeous set of their ‘must have minis’. A collection of 4 -incredibly soft- face brushes I’ll be reviewing shortly.
I’ve had my eye on the You Look Marbelous 35 piece set for a while, but after seeing it in action last night think I’ll be treating myself soon. I love that Spectrum are such a fun brand, but pay so much attention to ethics and quality. We need more brands like them and I loved being part of their event here in Wales.
